The California Academy of Sciences
current
2007
Goal: California Academy of Sciences needed to launch a redesigned web site as visually stunning and content rich as their groundbreaking, $100 million building that was under construction in Golden Gate Park.
- As managing editor of phase one, I drove the schedule to make sure that the new design, navigation, content, video, and site architecture was completed within three months to support a mass mailing/fundraising campaign.
- As managing editor of phase two, I assigned, edited, and wrote additional content to create a virtual experience of the museum for nine months after the temporary building on Howard Street shut down but before the new museum opened in 2008.
- Working as the point person with the design team of Hot Studio, California Academy’s in-house programmers, and CAS scientists who vetted all content, I provided a major assist to vice president of marketing, Elizabeth Reike. The launch was accomplished on schedule and a grateful Reike was able to go on pregnancy leave.
